Add 2CUPS of flour at a time. We use between 6-7CUPS all purpose flour.
Around my 5 1/2CUP mark I pour out on counter and knead dough til it isn’t sticky and comes together. Dough should be nice and soft. Oil dough and bowl and cover for about an hour plus til atleast double in size.
Once your dough has doubled in size. Roll out on a well floured surface about 1inch thick. I use a biscuit cutter and shot glass to cut out donuts. You can use a glass or a cleaned lid from something if you don’t have a shot glass. You also don’t have to cut the donut holes out either. Once all dough is cut out let rise another half hour to hour.
Get your oil nice and hot, about 350F. Deep fry roughly 1 minute per side. I
Donut toppings: 1TBSP Cinnamon 1CUP sugar mixed for the cinnamon sugar donuts you’ll have extra). 1CUP icing sugar, 1TSP honey, 2TBSP softened butter & 2-4TBSP milk (you want it quite runny) for honey dip donuts, 3/4CUP milk chocolate melted with 2TBSP milk mixed for the chocolate dip donuts. 1CUP icing sugar, 1TSP vanilla extract & 1-2TSP milk & (plus food color of choice-optional) sprinkles for the vanilla dip donuts.
The cinnamon sugar and honey dip needs to be coated as soon as they come out of the fryer. The vanilla dip and chocolate dip allow them to cool for 5-6 minutes before you ice and sprinkle them. These get devoured fast in our house, let us know what you think!!
We don’t normally but today I doubled the batter below for this recipe. Still took the same time to cook. Just makes for a larger cake. Top glaze: 2TBSP each butter or margarine & brown sugar Cake: 2-3 oranges, peeled & sliced thinly 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour 1/2TSP each baking soda & powder Couple pinches of salt 1/2CUP each cocoa & brown sugar 1/4CUP white sugar 1 egg 1/3CUP butter or margarine softened 1/4CUP orange juice 1/2CUP milkPreheat oven to 350F. I use my cast iron skillet, you can use a pie pan or a cake pan, whatever you prefer. Spray your pan with non stick spray. Peel and slice your oranges thinly. We like to use a blood orange and a regular orange, gives it a nice color. Mix your dry ingredients in a bowl. Mix your wet ingredients in another bowl. We don’t sift the dry ingredients but if you prefer to do so, go ahead. I throw my cast iron pan in oven with butter and brown sugar glaze. Just for a minute until Butter is melted. Then I mix it all around nicely on bottom of pan with brown sugar coating bottom evenly.Mix your dry and wet ingredients together, combine well.
Lay out oranges over glaze and pour batter over top.
We use a spatula to spread it out. Bake 40-45 minutes. Until a toothpick inserted comes out clean
We cool for a couple of minutes then I flip out onto a platter. If you like orange and chocolate youll love this cake. My family loves smelling it they get very excited when we make it. Let us know what you think
Do you like smores? These are incredible and absolutely loved in our family! Minimal ingredients and easy to make. Half bag of mini marshmallows Half package of egg roll wrappers 1/2CUP milk chocolate (chocolate chips, I used left over Chocolate and cut up) 1/2CUP crushed gram cracker I like to use an egg to seal the wrappers but you can use a flour/water mixture as well. Depending on how many you are going to make, you’ll either need more or less filling. I made 9 s’mores with the ingredients above. You only want to lay out a few wrappers at a time so they don’t dry out. I sprinkle a TSP of crushed gram closer to bottom edge. Then put a couple TBSP mini marshmallows on, top with some Chocolate then sprinkle more crushed gram on top. Take bottom and flip over fillings, fold sides in. Put egg wash along top edge continue to roll and seal it.
Deep Fry 350F for couple minutes per side. They don’t take long.
We like to put on a cooling rack when done, with paper towel underneath to absorb excess oil. These won’t last long so you better dig in!! I hope your family enjoys them as much as well do.
This recipe is excellent! We always double the batch when we make it. My loaf pans are quite small so I can usually make a couple different sizes of them. 1/2CUP sugar 1/2CUP vegetable oil 2 eggs 3 ripe bananas, mashed juice and zest of 1 blood orange (any orange works) 1/2CUPS cocoa 1 3/4CUPS flour 1/2TSP baking powder 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/2TSP Salt We like to use 3 bowls. One for the vegetable oil& eggs. One with the bananas and another for the flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder/soda & salt. Mash all the bananas well. Stir the flour bowl til well combined. Beat the eggs and oil together.
Mix in your eggs into your mashed bananas and combine well. Zest 1 orange into egg mixture and squeeze all orange juice from orange into egg mixture. Mix well.
Pour your flour mixture into your egg mixture and combined well til all flour is gone.Spray your loaf pans with non stick spray, parchment works and pour your batter into pans. Loaves pans bake in preheated 325F oven for approximately 1 hour or until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted. The smaller pans which are half the thickness take about 20-30minutes.
Cook for a couple minutes then flip out of pan and cool on cooling racks.
The orange flavour really comes out with the cocoa and then the banana flavour. Yum!! We hope your family enjoys it as much as we do.
2CUPS mashed ripe banana roughly 6 bananas 1/2CUP sugar 1/4CUP melted butter or margarine 4TBSP milk we used skim 2 large egg 2TSP vanilla extract 3/4CUP white flour 3/4CUP whole wheat flour 1TSP baking soda 1TSP ground cinnamon 1/2TSP ground nutmeg 1/2TSP salt 1/2CUP oatmeal 1/2CUP Chocolate Chips 1/4CUP melted Chocolate plus 1TSP milk for top (optional) We like to use 3 bowls. One for the flours, sugars, soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, oatmeal & Chocolate chips. Another for the bananas. And another bowl for the eggs, melted butter, milk and vanilla.Take a fork and mash all the bananas up. Stir the flour mixture well and beat the egg bowl til combined well.
Mix the egg mixture in with the bananas. Combined well. Then mix in your flour mixture and stir til everything is combined and mixed in.
We like to use our 14inch cast iron pizza pan but a larger cookie sheet will work just fine. Spray with a non stick spray. Pour your batter into your prepared pan.
Bake in preheated 350F oven for 20-30minutes depending on your oven. When it gets a nice color on top and toothpick comes out clean, it’s done.
If you want to put a Chocolate glaze on-top nuke some Chocolate chips til melted then stir in milk til well combined. I use a spoon to drop the Chocolate all around the bars. Cool then cut into bars.
