Campfire Banana Boats » RecipeCollage.com » June 28, 2024
We love making banana boats in the campfire. You can literally put anything in them.
What you’ll need.
Tin Foil, about foot by foot pieces depending on how large your bananas are.
Bananas
Chocolate chips
Marshmallows
Then you can literally add anything else to them. More fruits, berries, mangos, oranges.
Crushed cookies
Coconut
Peanut butter
Flavored marshmallows, we love toasted coconut marshmallows, the list goes on. Anything goes.

Now fold up the edges well and seal foil. We normally throw these right onto the fire pit beside the fire/flame but today we tried the cast iron tripod and put them in dutch oven over the fire. It worked very well.

This is one of the best turkeys we have ever had. Crispy on the outside and oh so juicy on the inside. This is the 3rd fried turkey we have done.
Turkey Brine:
6 quarts water
1 pound kosher salt
1CUP Molasses
2CUPS
1CUP soya sauce
1TBSP each crushed chilis and sage
add large bunch fresh thyme
2 heads garlic crushed
2 lemon zested
Put all the above ingredients, in a stock pot and bring to a light boil. boil for a couple minutes.
Pour 5 pounds ice in a bucket/pot large enough to hold turkey & brine, place turkey in and pour brine over turkey. Leave for Almost 12 hours. I do close to18hours.
Take turkey out, pat dry removing as much liquid from turkey as possible.

We got a slightly different taste this time cause we cooked them over the fire. They were incredible!
1LBSb yellow and white dry beans
1/2LBS salted pork
1/2CUP molasses
2 onions
4 cups cold water
1TSP each of salt & dry mustard
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Soak beans overnight in water. Rinse.
Throw the beans in your cauldron along with everything else. Make sure beans are covered with water. Cover. They take 7-8 hours in the oven. However over the open fire they are done within 2 hours.
Cook uncovered for the last little bit.
