These have become pretty fun for us. I made a plate for kids to share and for Tim and I to share. Use heat safe soup bowls. thinly sliced beef-your choice, we used top sirlion 2TBSP sauce- your choice, I put soya sauce, water, hoisin, oyster sauce, chilis, sesame seeds & green onions. Top with vegetables-your choice, I used broccoli, broccoli stems & water chestnuts Top that with beat eggs 2 per bowl and green onionsMix meat with sauce on bottom of bowl. I didn’t do anything nice to this meat but you can place it nicer in the bowl on the bottom, which will result in looking nice when it’s flipped out. Beat eggs. Prep rest of Vegetables
After your meat is in there all sauced up. Add your Vegetables, in layers if using different ones. Top with beat eggs, and green onion. Thai Chilis optional as always! Put them in your steamer trays and steam for 20minutes.
I serve these dumped on-top of sticky rice. Remove bowls from steamer and I take butter knife/chop stick and loosen the top edge all around the egg.I like to mold my rice too. Makes it look pretty. Gently tilt bowl over rice and flip out.We like this bamboo steamer
I like doing mini kebabs. This was one pack of sirloin cut in very small pieces. I used a half a large onion. Cut in cubes. And 8 Serrano peppers cut.
Skewer them up any way you like. I marinate these with my homemade garlic chili sauce for atleast 12 hours.
I grill them inside on my cast iron grill. High heat only couple minutes per side. I pour more my homemade sauce on them as soon as they come off. Snack time!
When I’m cooking a big batch, I use my Nordicware non stick indoor flat grill. We enjoy these skewers.
Love this!
Thinly sliced beef, onions, & garlic. Lots of broccoli cut. Bought a whole case of broccoli today. Been processing it all day. I used a lot of broccoli in this recipe. We made a big batch. I like to use a little vegetable oil along with some sesame oil. Fry up the meat, onions, garlic, soya sauce, fresh green peppercorns on high heat. For a couple minutes.Add the broccoli, 1/2-1CUP beef broth depending on how much sauce you like. I thicken this with a cornstarch/water mixture. We serve over rice!
We had so much fun with this. The kids had been looking forward to to this for days. Look at all the wonderful colors! Love it.
Been making my own garlic chili sauce for a while now. I use for lots of stuff. Cooking, dipping, marinating. It’s fresh tasting and yummy. We have had Hotpot a couple times at restaurants but this is the first time we have had it at home. You can cook a variety of stuff in the pot.
I bought the Hot & Spicy Hotpot soup mix at TnT market in Calgary. They have an excellent selection there. We had the spicy hotpot on one side and other side we had a mushroom egg drop soup. Made with a variety of mushrooms.
Anyone else put your rice in a bowl to shape for plating? It just makes it look nice. It’s been a long day today! We have been all over town. And I mean all over. Went everywhere searching for fondue fluid/gel. No one had any. We could not believe it! Frustrating to say the least. We thought we had some to find out we did not. We improvised, placed it on the raclette grill lol. It actually worked out kinda nice though as we ended up grilling some vegs/meats on the sides hehehe
Kids loved it. Took us just over 2 hours from start to finish. It was a lot of fun.
It was fantastic and everyone can’t wait to do it again! Wishing everyone best wishes! Happy New Year.
One thing hubby and I love for a snack is steak bites. They cook up so fast and hey who doesn’t want a steak? Well a vegetarian I guess. HeheCut up sirlion, TBSP soya sauce mixed in. Then Montreal steak spice. They don’t take long to cook. Cook to your preference. Nacho dip is just a jarred salsa topped with cheese and jalapenos put under the broiler til heated and browned. All done in under 10minutes!
