We get a large platter out. Cut some cucumbers up, jalapenos, get your lettuce cleaned and cut if big pieces, add some more Thai basil, mint & cilantro, sliced lime wedges. Place nicely all around platter nicely.
Then we put all the pork Larb on middle of platter. If your looking to change up taco night with a much flavourful and healthier option, this is definitely it! Hope you enjoy it as much as we do. Take a piece of lettuce and build it up with all those goodies, dive in because the platter isn’t going to last.
We don’t normally buy these bottled sauces, but hey, it had a clearance sticker. We wanted to try it out. My homemade sauce is definitely better but for a no name sauce, it was actually quite delicious. 1 bottle pad Thai sauce 1 package of rice stick noodles, we like the thick ones for this recipe. Steak, we used a tbone Feel free to use any cut of beef you like. Can always substitute steak for chicken, pork, fish or just veggies works and tastes great too. Half white onion, sliced thinly 1/4 red onion, sliced thinly 4-6 green onions Bunch garlic chopped Thai Chilis chopped 1 jalapeno sliced thinly 1 carrot julienned 1 lime Bunch of cilantro 1/2CUP diced peanuts Vegetable oil or olive oil worksWe like to prep all the ingredients, chop everything, get everything ready for the meal.
Cook up your tbone in a hot skillet with oil of your choice to desired downess, just get a nice color on both sides. Remove from pan. Now chop steak all up and set aside. Once the bone cools down, Lucky will get one of his favorite treats.
This is going to cook up super fast. So it’s good to have everything prepped like we have above. Get your pan nice and hot with what oil you are using. Add in your white & red onions. Then the garlic and thai Chilis. Stir about 2 minutes on a medium heat. Then we added carrots and sliced jalapenos. Cook for another 2 minutes. Then pour in your bottled sauce, chopped steak, cilantro and green onions. Stir well to combine.
Boil up your noodles as per your instructions say on the package. Once noodles is cooked , drain well, then we like to rinse the noodles under the cold water. But it’s not necessary. Pour noodles over sauce and mix well. Coating all noodles.
Lucky finally getting his Tbone, looks more like an Ibone to me hehehe
Pour into a big plate, squeeze a bunch of lime on, top with crushed nuts and a few fresh jalapenos and dig in, cause there isn’t going to be any left soon.
Well this was not only delicious but it looked beautiful. We called it Starry Night and it was devoured fast. Bottom layer: 1/4CUP butter margarine 1/2CUP brown sugar half starfruit cut thinly 1/2CUP blueberries Cake: 2 eggs, slightly beaten 1/4CUP melted butter or margarine 3/4CUP sugar 1/2CUP milk 1TSP coconut extract or you can use vanilla 1 1/2CUP flour 2TSP baking powder 1/4TSP salt
Preheat oven to 350F. I like to use my cast iron skillet. Spray pan with non stick spray, put your butter and brown sugar in. Then I throw this in the oven while preheating just to get the butter all melted. Spread the melted butter and brown sugar all around evenly. Then place all your fruit all around nicely. Get a large bowl add in your flour, baking powder & salt, stir.
Then add in all your wet ingredients. Stir and combine well. Put batter over fruit and I like to use spatula to spread it all around nicely. Bake 350F about 35minutes.
You can let it cool for 10minutes or so before you flip it out of pan. I like to do it right away. Does your family like starfruit? It tastes really good in this cake! Hope your family enjoys it as much as we did.
These are fun to make, and taste great. You can literally put anything in them. Our secret in making any of our grilled cheese is spreading mayo on the outside instead of butter. If you haven’t had it that way before, we highly recommend you try it. You’ll need: Waffle maker Sliced bread of your choice, we used rye Sliced turkey Cheddar & Swiss cheese slices Mayo, butter, how much, would depend on how many sandwiches you make. Mustard (optional, you can literally put any condiments you want) Salt, pepperHeat your waffle iron up. We sure love this cast iron waffle iron, it’s a beast and cooks everything perfect! We mayo the outside of each bread and butter the inside and add some mustard. Butter & Mustard on the inside are optional. I slice, rip up the cheese slices and put some cheese on bottom and top so the sliced turkey is sandwiched inbetween. Top with salt and pepper and your other piece of bread. Now I know your thinking 2 slices of bread, and filling. My waffle iron isn’t going to shut. Just give it a bit of pressure, it will close. Grill til nicely browned and crispThe kids love these, they go excellent with some tomato soup or just by their self. We hope you get a chance to make them.
We sure love Thai Bananas. Small but packed with so much flavour and super sweet. Ever have them deep fried like a chip? Peel a few bananas at once, get your mandolin out on th thinnest setting and slice bananas all up. Tim always wants me to wear our non cut gloves when using the mandolin lol.Get your oil til 350F and deep fry about 3-5 minutes, flipping, til all nicely browned.Put on on paper towel when done to remove excess oil.
These are great just on their own! But try tossing some in your favorite seasoning. We have some Cajun, Plain, & Cinnamon Sugar ones. If you get a chance to make these, let us know what you think.
