We sure love Thai Bananas. Small but packed with so much flavour and super sweet. Ever have them deep fried like a chip? Peel a few bananas at once, get your mandolin out on th thinnest setting and slice bananas all up. Tim always wants me to wear our non cut gloves when using the mandolin lol.Get your oil til 350F and deep fry about 3-5 minutes, flipping, til all nicely browned.Put on on paper towel when done to remove excess oil.
These are great just on their own! But try tossing some in your favorite seasoning. We have some Cajun, Plain, & Cinnamon Sugar ones. If you get a chance to make these, let us know what you think.
If your looking for a fast and pretty simply snack. Here it is. We all wanted a couple chicken wings so we got to work in the kitchen.
Package of chicken Wings Oil for deep frying Spice, Sauce of your choice
We open the wing packages, wash them well, and then dry them as much as possible. You don’t have to wash them but make sure to remove as much moisture from them as you can. Deep fry 375F roughly 10-14minutes depending how big your wings are. Til juices run clear. Flip the wings around occasionally. Our favorite wings are a dry rub with Cajun Spice. We also like a sweet & spicy one. With half & half of sriracha & sweet chili sauce mixed together. Honey garlic, Salt Pepper, Hot Sauce, and Teriyaki are all great too. It’s endless what you can top these with.
Once done deep frying lay out on paper towel for a minute. Or you can use a cooling rack.
I get two med large bowls, depending on how many flavours your making, that’s how many bowls youll need. For the sauce I add roughly 2TBSP to a bowl for 8 wings. Then toss them all around til well coated. For the spices. I add roughly 1TBSP of spice to Bowl to 8 wings and then toss them all around also.Hope you enjoy them as much as we do. Chicken Wings don’t last long in our house
We have been bored. We have been cooking a lot! Neither I nor Tim are working so keeping ourselves and the kids busy all day has its challenges. Preparing for our move has us very busy also. These donuts today took our mind off things for a few hours, they took a bit of time but we’re super rewarding :0). 2TSP dry yeast 2CUPS milk 1/2CUP butter, margarine or shortening, softened 2TSP salt 1/2CUP sugar 1TSP cinnamon 4 eggs 6-7CUPS all purpose flour
Warm your milk in microwave and add your yeast to it. Set aside til yeast activates. Put softened butter, cinnamon, sugar, and your yeast mixture stir til combined. Add in all your eggs and mix well.
Add 2CUPS of flour at a time. We use between 6-7CUPS all purpose flour.
Around my 5 1/2CUP mark I pour out on counter and knead dough til it isn’t sticky and comes together. Dough should be nice and soft. Oil dough and bowl and cover for about an hour plus til atleast double in size.
Once your dough has doubled in size. Roll out on a well floured surface about 1inch thick. I use a biscuit cutter and shot glass to cut out donuts. You can use a glass or a cleaned lid from something if you don’t have a shot glass. You also don’t have to cut the donut holes out either. Once all dough is cut out let rise another half hour to hour.
Get your oil nice and hot, about 350F. Deep fry roughly 1 minute per side. I
Donut toppings: 1TBSP Cinnamon 1CUP sugar mixed for the cinnamon sugar donuts you’ll have extra). 1CUP icing sugar, 1TSP honey, 2TBSP softened butter & 2-4TBSP milk (you want it quite runny) for honey dip donuts, 3/4CUP milk chocolate melted with 2TBSP milk mixed for the chocolate dip donuts. 1CUP icing sugar, 1TSP vanilla extract & 1-2TSP milk & (plus food color of choice-optional) sprinkles for the vanilla dip donuts.
The cinnamon sugar and honey dip needs to be coated as soon as they come out of the fryer. The vanilla dip and chocolate dip allow them to cool for 5-6 minutes before you ice and sprinkle them. These get devoured fast in our house, let us know what you think!!
1 1/2CUPS all purpose flour 1/2CUP butter or margarine 1CUP water pinch of Salt 2TSP Sugar 1 Egg Oil , for frying Sugar/Cinnamon for Coating
Place water, butter, sugar & a pinch of salt into a sauce pan. Bring to the boil.
Add the flour and mix until well incorporated, takes a minute or two.
Remove from the stove and let it cool for a minute. Once it has cooled a little, add the egg and mix the egg into the dough. Try to do it as quickly as possible. It may look like the churro dough doesn’t wanna come together but it will. Lucky is supervising. He’s good at that.
Heat the oil in a large frying pan to about 350F. Fill a piping bag fitted with star piping tip with half of the dough, it is easier to do with half the dough as I find it heavy. When oil is ready pipe dough into oil, I use my finger to stop the dough but you can use a utensil of you want. I pipe hearts into oil and fingers and pigs tails my kids call them hehehe. They only take about 2 minutes in oil. Flipping them til nicely browned.
Lay out on paper towel when done to remove excess oil. Then roll them in a sugar cinnamon coating. Lucky saids how you doing up there mom?We also made a chocolate gravy to go with them. These were awesome. Devoured fast!
